■Symposium 1 “Emergency evacuation with animals —Sample Plans for Evacuation and Sheltering”
Date: Sun. 19th July 14:30~17:30 Venue: Convention Hall Organiser: Executive Committee Purpose: Recently it was proposed by the Japanese government (Ministry of the Environment) that we should be the emergency evacuation with household pet on the occasion of an urgent disaster. Not only the evacuation provides both relief of human beings and the animal, but also it makes difficult for an owner to evacuate and the public health problems by a left animal when we cannot evacuate with the animal. In this symposium, we consider concrete measures in regard to emergency evacuation with past case studies.

■Symposium 2 “Recent Topics of Zoonosis”
Date: Mon. 20th July 10:00~13:00 Venue: Convention Hall Organiser: Society for Zoonosis Research Purpose: Recently, infectious diseases are spreading in world wide. These main infectious diseases are emerging infectious diseases and re-emerging infectious diseases. In this symposium, recent topics of zoonosis, Ebola hemorrhagic fever, Dengue fever, Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) and the policies of zoonosis by the Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare will be discussed.

■Symposium 3 “To strengthen the Japanese Livestock Industry’s capacity for disaster management”
Date: Mon. 20th July 10:00~13:00 Venue: Lounge Organiser: Executive Committee Purpose: When faced with a natural disaster, the Japanese livestock industry was asked by many citizens to save livestock animals. They are bred to support our lifestyles and we must consider this role when dealing with disaster management. However, assisting the evacuation of these animals affected by the disaster is not an easy task for a multitude of reasons, so it is important to recognize risks in advance and constantly endeavor to minimize the effect on livestock even if they are struck directly by a natural disaster. In this session, we will discuss how to find a suitable solution for the Japanese livestock industry.

■Symposium 4 “A Happy Community through The Support System for Keeping Companion Animals — Building a warm and lively community through living with animal companions.”
Date: Mon. 20th July 14:00~17:00 Venue: Convention Hall Organiser: Japanese Animal Hospital Association / Public Interest Incorporated Association Knots Purpose: There is now the possibility that a warm-hearted society where the elderly, children, and companion animals live together happily and where “Living with companion animals” is actively incorporated into local communities could be a great a
nswer to pressing social issues, such as an increasing number of single-member households and a rapidly aging population, and could lead to the building of a new, happier social structure. It is possible that such a structure would also create new businesses and jobs. We would like to consider a model of the Support System for Keeping Companion Animals that would assist this lively new social structure.

■Symposium 5 “Concidering The future of Veterinary Disaster Medicine in Japan”
Date: Mon. 20th July 14:00~17:00 Venue: Seminar Room Organiser: Japanese Association of Veterinary Disaster Medicine (JAVDM) Purpose: 20 years have passed since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and 10 years have passed since Hurricane Katrina. These disasters coused severe damage to the urban areas and sufferd many human and animals. Through the lecture of two specialists , this workshop will make suggestions for future direction of veterinary disaster medicine in Japan.
