A certain amount of case studies has so far reported various effects of horseback riding on children with developmental disorders.  The present study examined the effects on an autistic child with mental retardation.  He participated in a 30-min riding program a day, and enjoyed it totally more than 60 times for nine years from 10 to 18 years old. He uttered more and more joyful sounds while riding, and took to report horses after riding.  The facts had also good effects on the relationship between him and his mother, and on mental health of her.
