Live Love Animals ICAC KOBE 2014
The 3rd International Conference on Animal Care in KOBE 2014

—For the Future of People and Other Animals

Purpose
Created as a result of the tragic human and animal suffering caused by the 1995 Kobe Earthquake (Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake), this conference wishes improve people and animal welfare on an international basis by demonstrating
that our responsibilities to one another are more extensive than we usually consider. This event will deliver a multi-discipline range of expertise and knowledge in a format of exchange to encourage innovative debate and to introduce new techniques and technologies, and their implementation.
Conference Objective
“We as people, and on behalf of fellow animals, need to better ‘Appreciate’ our each and every existence, help each other to attain lives that are more ‘Happy’ overall, and accept our ‘Responsibilities’ for the lives of all creatures on this planet”.
It was under the above philosophy that the 1st ICAC-KOBE (in December 2009) was held to commemorate and reflect on the experiences of the Kobe Earthquake (the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake) of January 17th 1995). The 2nd conference (in February 2012) also needed to consider such issues following the Great Japan Earthquake and tsunami disaster of March 11th, 2011). Therefore many professionals, gathering under the theme of ‘For the Future of People and Other Animals’, and representing from many different specialties including Veterinary Medicine, Crisis Management, Zoonoses, Food Safety, Animal Welfare, and the ‘Human Animal Bond’ have already been exchanging knowledge and ideas.
The 3rd ICAC-KOBE will follow the spirit of this theme ‘For the Future of People and Other Animals’ and offer wideranging topics that reflect society’s most current concerns to be explained by specialist speakers from diverse fields.
This conference aims to clarify what people in general can do towards achieving a future in which both people and other animals can enjoy higher levels of happiness and wellbeing. We intend to contribute to the greater realization of both mental and physical health for people, animals and the whole ecosystem.
