Concerning Therapy Dogs
@In 1986 I became interested in the training effects of therapy dogs in areas where training by people is not possible.
@In October 1994 I encountered an English Springer Spaniel named Brown (Wat of Laputaland Ideguchi JP) belonging to the BAT Rehabilitation Project for Children with Developmental Diseases, which I found to be particularly ideal as a therapy dog, and I began series rearing of this breed.
@In May 1996 the first Workshop on Training with Children/Adults with Development Diseases and Therapy Dogs was conducted. At present, this workshop continues to conducted semiannually.
@Following the above, I have devoted myself to rearing therapy dogs and practical research into activities using therapy dogs in addition to research into the practice of techniques for training children/adults with development disabilities.
