Live - Love - Animals 21 ~ PUBLIC FORUM

Live-Love-Animals21, Let's Live Together

Sunday 23rd Sept. 2001, 11:00~16:00
Port Island Hall, 'World Hall'

OBJECTIVE: At the time of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, many helping hands were extended not only to help the people of Kobe but also to rescue the animals caught in the disaster.
This example demonstrated and reminded everybody that ties between Man and Animals can be a very strong bond. When people displaced by the quake were offered temporary housing structures, significant care was taken to allow people and pets to live together.
Many of the people involved came to the wiew that the issues of people living together with animals is no different to the issues of people living with other people.
On the other hand however, Japan is home to a society in which several hundred thousand animals are abused or killed every year due to one-sided and selfish owners.

In society today, the value of life is being given greater recognition, It is said that allowing children to care for small lives will ensure their healthy development.
From the viewpoint of valuing life and coexisting with animals we all need to carefully consider what kind of society we want to build in the 21st century.
The value to this event, launching a message from Kobe in this first year of the new century, will be of enormous significance.

AIMS: To express thanks for support received from around Japan and the world after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. And with the introduction of the revised Animal Welfare Law, the timely event is held to promote the spirit of love
and respect for animals among the public and children, and to contribute to building a Society for the harmonious coexistence of Man and Animals in the 21st century.
